Trees Don’t Fix Dust Alone

“Another important observation from our one-year tree planting initiative in Kabul is that tree planting alone is not sufficient to fully address air pollution and dust challenges. While trees contribute to reducing dust levels and improving microclimates, they are not a complete solution. Ground cover such as grass, shrubs, and flowering plants plays a critical role in stabilizing soil, reducing airborne dust, and improving overall environmental conditions. Our experience suggests that a fully greened landscape—combining trees with dense ground vegetation—has a much stronger impact on reducing dust and improving air quality than trees alone.”
